Auger cast piles are drilled using a hollow stem auger mounted on a lead. The Anchor Group uses a box lead to increase the stability and strength of the drilling unit. This modification is important in soils which may include boulders or other obstructions.
These piles are installed with minimal vibration and noise. High slump concrete is pumped into the auger by a high pressure concrete pump. The level of concrete is monitored by an electronic pressure sensor mounted at the top of the auger. Once the concrete is pressurized to an adequate level the auger is raised. Upper reinforcement can be added to the pile if required. All piles are tested using non destructive integrity tests.
