Belled caissons, sheet piling

200 caissons founded on rock were used to support the 4 new silo structures at the Nanticoke Generating Station. The Anchor Group installed these belled and straight shaft caissons using 2 Watson 3000 track mounted drill rigs. The caissons were reinforced with full length reinforcing cages. Extensive planning of the drilling sequence was required as the cages projected above the working surface making access a challenge.

Sheet piling was also required to allow excavation of several pits. This shoring was designed and installed by The Anchor Group.

Other Hydro Projects completed by The Anchor Group include expansion of the Trans Alta Line in Sarnia Ont., 3 phases of drilling 8’ diameter holes at the Bruce Generating Station for nuclear storage, several projects at Lakeview Generating Station, Lampton Generating Station, and Lucknow Ontario.
